Loading Directional Quilts & Patterns

So, we've already discussed  how to pin your zippers onto your backing when preparing to float your quilt on a longarm quilting machine. Now, we would like to address how to prepare your quilt for floating if the top, back and/or pattern are directional. The best way we have have found to show this is to provide diagrams. 

Load zippers on the long edge, with both Xs on the left. 


 

Load zippers on the long edge, with both Xs on the left. Load top of your quilt top to the left.


Load zippers on the long edge, with both Xs on the left. Be sure the top of your backing is to the left as you would load it onto the machine.


Load zippers on the long edge, with both Xs on the left. Be sure the top of both your backing and your quilt top are to the left as you would load them onto the machine.


Load zippers on the short edge, with both Xs on the left.


Load zippers on the short edge, with both Xs on the left. Load top of your quilt top first.


Load zippers on the short edge, with both Xs on the left. Be sure the top of your backing is loaded first onto the machine.


Load zippers on the short edge, with both Xs on the left. Be sure the top of both your backing and your quilt top are loaded first onto the machine.
